Typically when a tree stump is removed, this usually means the tree stump was physically removed or the tree stump was ground down below the surface.  Often only very small tree stump can fully be removed unless the tree has been uprooted during a wind storm.  Large tree stumps are “removed” with and industrial stump grinder.  The stump grinder grinds the stump down 4 to 6-inches below ground surface. When the stump grinding is completed, the grindings or woodchips are left at the stumps location for your personal use.   These woodchips are excellent for placing in your landscaping and garden areas as a means of recycling and keeping natural resources out of landfills.  

After the stump has been ground, topsoil can be place over the stumps location so you can plant a new flower bed or restore you lawn with grass.  If you do not want the remaining woodchips or need landscaping services, we at Steve’s Tree Care operate a professional landscaping company. Upon your request we can revitalize the former stump area with placement of new soil a grass or flowers.

Take it from a stump removal professional; when removing a stump yourself, it is always a good idea to know where the underground utilities and sprinklers are on your properly.  It’s not uncommon for someone to remove brush or tree stumps and accidentally nick there cable line because they are only buried just below the surface.
